Northwest Florida State College’s Brian Bryant and Broward College’s Chris Martinez are Co-FCCAA Men’s Basketball Players of the Week.

 

Bryant, a sophomore guard from Albany, Ga., averaged 24.0 points and 11.3 rebounds over his final three games, leading the top-ranked Raiders to the Panhandle Conference Championship. He recorded double-doubles against Tallahassee (19 points, 12 rebounds) on February 15 and Chipola (31 points, 13 rebounds) on February 17, then closed the regular season with a 22-point, nine-rebound effort against Gulf Coast on February 20 as the Raiders clinched the outright PC Championship.

 

Martinez, a sharp-shooting freshman from Miami, Fla., averaged 26.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in his final two games, continuing his stellar late-season play. Against Indian River State on February 20, Martinez tallied 29 points, four rebounds and two assists as the Seahawks handed The River its first Southern Conference defeat. That evening, he knocked down 5-of-10 from three-point range and 9-of-11 from the free throw line. In the regular season finale against Brevard on February 23, he had 24 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Polk State College’s Masse Doumbe is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Doumbe, a sophomore guard from Le Mans, France, averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.5 steals in Suncoast Conference games against State College of Florida and Hillsborough. Against SCF on February 10, Doumbe hit 7-of-14 from the floor en-route to a 20-point evening. Three days later against Hillsborough, his 23 points and 11 rebounds led Polk past the Hawks, securing a home game in the upcoming SuCon Tournament. For the week, Doumbe, shot 48.4 percent (16-of-33) from the floor, 55.6 percent (5-of-9) on three-pointers and 75.0 percent (6-of-8) from the free throw line.

Anthony Dorsey, Hillsborough

Sophomore – Guard – St. Petersburg, Fla.

 

Hillsborough Community College’s Anthony Dorsey is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Dorsey, a sophomore guard from nearby St. Petersburg, Fla., averaged 27.0 points per game as the surging Hawks picked up two key wins in Suncoast Conference play. Against State College of Florida on February 3, Dorsey tallied 28 points and 14 rebounds in Hillsborough’s 73-59 triumph. Three days later, his 26 points keyed the Hawks’ 91-87 overtime win over St. Petersburg, a victory that gave Hillsborough sole possession of first place in the SuCon.

Florida State College at Jacksonville’s Jean Louisme is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Louisme, a second-year guard from Fort Myers, Fla., averaged 23.0 points in games against St. Johns River and Santa Fe. Against St. Johns River on January 27, he scored 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Three days later, he totaled 25 points on an 8-of-15 shooting effort against Santa Fe. For the week, Louisme shot 53.6 percent (15-of-28) from the floor, 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from the three-point stripe and 90.0 percent (9-of-10 from the free throw line). He also averaged 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Central Florida Community College’s Ricardo Ratliffe is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Ratliffe averaged 38.5 points and 14.0 rebounds as the Patriots opened Mid-Florida Conference play with wins over Florida State College and St. Johns River. Against Florida State College on January 20, he hit 15-of-23 field goals en route to a 37-point night, one in which he also grabbed 15 rebounds. Three days later, he tallied 40 points and 13 rebounds in the Patriots’ double-overtime win over St. Johns River. For the week, Ratliffe shot 69.0 percent (29-of-42) from the floor and 66.7 percent (16-of-24) from the free throw line.

Northwest Florida State College’s Brian Bryant is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Bryant, a Mississippi State signee, averaged 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists, leading the top-ranked Raiders to victories over their chief Panhandle Conference rivals. Against then-No. 3 Tallahassee on January 13, Bryant’s 24 points and six rebounds helped Northwest Florida State to a 60-57 come-from-behind victory. Three days later, he tallied 20 points and ten rebounds in the Raiders’ 86-74 win on the road at then-No. 2 Chipola. Bryant played the full 40 minutes in both games.

Tallahassee Community College’s Bernard James is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. James, a sophomore center from Savannah, Ga., recorded back-to-back double-doubles as the NJCAA No. 22 Eagles opened the Panhandle Conference season with a pair of victories. At Gulf Coast on January 6, his 14 points and 17 rebounds helped the Eagles turn back a determined Commodore team, 70-65 in overtime. Three days later against Pensacola, he hit all nine of his field goal attempts en route to an 18-point, 15-rebound night in TCC’s 81-63 victory. For the week, James averaged 16.0 points, 16.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks and shot 68.1 percent (15-of-22) from the floor.

Broward College’s Thomas Hawkins is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Hawkins, a freshman forward from Davie, Fla., put together three strong games at Broward’s Coach Jay McCormick Holiday Classic (December 29-31). In wins over ASA, Tampa Swish and the Community College of Rhode Island, Hawkins averaged 25.3 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals. After posting 14 points, 12 rebounds against ASA and 14 points, 10 rebounds against the Tampa Swish, he sent 2009 out with a bang, scoring 48 points on a perfect 20-of-20 shooting in the December 31 win over CCRI. He also pulled down 14 rebounds against the Knights for his third straight double-double. For the week, Hawkins shot 72.7 percent (32-of-44) from the field and 75.0 percent (12-of-16) from the free throw line.

Bryant, a sophomore guard from Albany, Ga., averaged 25.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games at the Florida Men’s JUCO Shootout. The Mississippi State signee hit 12-of-18 field goals en route to a 28-point performance in Saturday’s victory over Miami Dade. The next day, he tallied 22 points, ten rebounds and six assists, leading the top-ranked Raiders to a come-from-behind victory over St. Petersburg.

Polk State College’s Malik Tinsley is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Tinsley, a sophomore guard from Philadelphia, Pa., averaged 24.0 points, 12.6 rebounds and 4.3 steals in three games last week. He posted double-doubles in each game, beginning with a 21-point, 13-rebound effort against the Tampa Swish on November 30. Two days later, he led the Vikings past Palm Beach with 25 points and 12 rebounds. He finished the week with 26 points and 13 rebounds against the Webber JV. For the week, Tinsley shot 60.percent (30-of-50) from the floor, hit three of his five three-point attempts and was 9-of-14 from the foul line.

Broward College’s Kevin Bristol is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Bristol, a 6-foot-10 sophomore from Miami, averaged 14.7 points, 14.3 rebounds and 6.3 blocks in three games at last weekend’s Miami Dade College Turkey Classic. In Friday’s opener against IMG Academy, he recorded 13 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks. In Saturday’s contest against Iowa Western, he posted 10 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. He saved his best performance for Sunday’s finale against Hillsborough, recording a triple-double – 21 points, 21 rebounds and ten blocks.

Central Florida Community College’s Ricardo Ratliffe is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Ratliffe, a native of Hampton, Va., averaged 31.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in games against St. Petersburg and Tallahassee. Against then-No. 9 St. Petersburg on November 17, Ratliffe tossed in 34 points on 12-of-18 shooting (9-of-14 from the foul line) and pulled down 19 rebounds. Four days later in a highly-anticipated matchup with FCCAA No.5/NJCAA No. 13 Tallahassee, he hit all four of his three-point attempts and was 12-of-15 overall from the floor, scoring 29 points in the Patriots’ 83-68 win. For the week, Ratliffe shot 72.7 percent (24-of-33) from the floor and 62.5 percent (10-of-16) from the free throw line.

Ricardo Ratliffe, Central Florida

Central Florida Community College’s Ricardo Ratliffe is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Ratliffe, a preseason NJCAA all-American, averaged 38.0 points, 15.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.5 blocks in two games for the nation’s top-ranked Patriots. He opened the week with a 36-point, 11-rebound night against Hillsborough on November 10. Three days later, he was even better against the College of Coastal Georgia, scoring 40 points and pulling down 19 rebounds while hitting 17-of-23 field goal attempts. For the week, Ratliffe shot 75.0 percent (30-of-40) from the floor, 42.9 percent (3-of-7) on three-point attempts and 65.0 percent (13-of-20) from the free throw line.  

 

November 10 

Clarence Tillman, St. Johns River

St. Johns River Community College’s Clarence Tillman is this week’s FCCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Tillman averaged 25.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals, leading the Vikings to a 3-0 start. In the November 1 season opener against the College of Coastal Georgia, Tillman hit 13-of-18 field goal attempts en route to 28 points, six rebounds and four assists in St. Johns’ 97-93 victory. The next day against the TAAG Basketball Academy, he hit 8-of-13 from the floor, scored 19 points and recorded five steals in a 95-87 triumph. Tillman capped his week with a 29-point, eight-rebound effort, hitting 11-of-15 free throws in a win over the Tampa Swish. For the week, Tillman shot 65.2 percent (30-of-46) from the floor and 72.7 percent (16-of-22) from the foul line.
